COZY LIT FIRE by Posh Interiors, LLC- Atlanta Interior Design

I really get excited this time of the year.  The weather is turning cool and we mentally start getting in the mood for a cozy lit fire.  We don't have to settle for a faceless fireplace. Adding a screen creates a bit of interest and intrique to the flaming logs.

The prices of fireplace screens have a huge range. You have a choice whether you want to break your wallet and splurge or play it cheap and go chic.  You can also find them pretty much everywhere over the internet.  Some are of better quality than others.  I would suggest if you want one that will last for several seasons, purchase one made from iron or forged iron.

Here are a few I found from various retailers.  The prices vary.
It's time to decorate your mantle and fireplace for a cozy lit moment!

RUG LAYERING TREND by Posh Interiors, LLC-Atlanta Interior Design

Clients often ask me "Is it ok to layer rugs?" Not only is this ok, but this technique has been a trend for a very long time. So I guess you could say it's not really a new trend, just a way to add texture and interest to your floor.  Here are a few creative ways to layer rugs:
  • If you have neutral wall to wall carpeting in your room , add your favorite colored rug on top for a pop of color below your feet.
  • Use several small rugs together to create one large rug
  • Small area rugs are great for covering up old worn out carpet
  • My all time favorite look that has become a hot trend is adding a hide on top of a natural sisal rug.  The hides are thin and stays in place better with something underneath it.
If you are in the market for a good looking hide rug, go to http://www.pinkdoordecor.com/ . Try layering with a hide and let me know what you think of the look.

CUSTOM BEDDING by Posh Interiors, LLC-Atlanta Interior Design

I love a beautifully made bed.  No, I do not mind removing all of the pillows.  It is the size and shapes of the pillows that add to the welcoming feeling of an adorned bed.  You can buy many size pillows in the store and even find great bed-in-a-bag sets, but there is nothing like having custom pillows and covers made for your bedroom.

I have a king size bed and can never find anything to fit properly.  The plush pillow top mattress causes everything to look too short on the bed.  I did have my bedding custom made to fit (of course I would... I am a designer).

Here are a few of my favorite pillows for the bed.  I really love long bolster pillows matched with simple euros.  What's your favorite shaped pillow for the bed?

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PLEAT? by Posh Interiors, LLC-Atlanta Interior Design

This time of year gets pretty busy for me as a designer.  I am usually working on quite a few window treatment projects.  Many times, clients don't really know what they want.  There are so many different header pleats that the client can become confused when they are trying to figure out what they like.

Right now, drapery panels using the french pleat header is pretty popular.  This look isn't quite as formal as the traditional double or triple pinch pleat. The french pleat shows emphasis towards the top of the pleat, allowing for a more relaxed look below the pleat.  As a matter of fact, I have used this header on my last couple of drapery projects. On the front page of my website www.poshinteriorsllc.com , I used the french pleat on a linen fabric.

Here are a few of the different header pleats.  Take a peek, and let me know what's your favorite pleat?
