New Focus

I feel like I have lifted a brick off of my chest.  If you have been following my blog, you would have noticed that I stuck with a consistant theme of residential design. As a designer, we see beautiful things all around us; all the time.  I decided that I would broaden the focus of my blog a bit and explore all things beautiful, not only in the world of residential design but in the world of outdoor living (I have touched on this a bit in the past), fashion, and entertainment (parties, not hollywood).

So here's to new beginnings and a few pictures of things I think are beautiful.
The spot light is on me!

I just purchased this spot light lamp for my office. Nostalgia written all over it!

You don't always have to use pictures to fill a wall.
I love the look of this entry way. I wonder if the frames cost as much as purchasing art...hmmm?

All I can say is ooohhhhhhh, aaaaahhhh! Tranquility at its best.

Thanks for allowing me to explore and take a load off.
Until next time,
XO

Decorating Using Fall's Favorite Color...Orange

Everyone knows that the color orange has been a favorite color in the decor and fashion world for a few seasons.  This summers hot color was Tangerine Tango.  So orange and it's many variations is like a good wine and has gotten better with time.

Fall is approaching us and we will begin seeing this beautiful color painting earth's exterior surface in all of it's splendor shades.  Decorating the interior of the home with orange can be a bit tricky. Too much can be over bearing.  If you are just getting started using colors, I would suggest bringing in colors with a few accessories, like these orange and chocolate containers found at Pink Door Decor

As your comfort level wanes, you can start bringing in more shades of orange beyond the accessories.

In both of the above photos, shades of orange were gradually brought into the room using pieces of furniture.  Just enough to add pop to the room.

In this room designed by Jonathan Adler, pops of orange are carried through out the room, from the bed to the ceiling.  Ooh, La, La!  You gotta love the color to handle this cool modern, retro room.
I love it, what about you?

Coastal Inspiration by Posh Interiors, LLC

With the kids heading back to school, we are reminded that summer vacations are almost over. One of my favorite spots to go and hang out in the summer is the beach.  I don't particularly have a favorite place to go, as long as the sands are pearly white and the waters are blue/aqua marine.

US Gulf Coast Miramar Beach

This summer, my family and I took a short vacation down to Miramar Beach in Florida. I love Miramar Beach because it's a pretty short trip from Georgia and there's a lot to do for the kids.  My favorite part of beach living is the decor.  Think about it, coastal interiors are carefree and inviting.  I love the colors, textures and layers.  Soft blues, turquoise, whites and creams are my favorite color palette for a beach home. As far as textures are concern, I really like using natural rugs (seagrass, sisal and jute)  to really get the "outdoor-in effect" for a beach house.

You can create your own coastal look by getting inspired using pictures from magazines or picking up a copy of Coastal Living Magazine.

This is a photo from Pottery Barn magazine that screams "The Coast".  It has all of the makings of a beautiful inviting beach house.  Soft cool colors, textures from mother earth (wood, metal, water) and a back drop that anyone who loves the beach would want to wake up to and see.

One of my clients was so inspired by the colors of the coast that we transformed her family room to create the feel of the coast. Follow this link http://www.flickr.com/photos/62853046@N08/ to see the before and after shots of her family room.

Even though I love the beach and all it has to offer, I am looking forward to cooler weather.
Goodbye Summer.  Hello Fall.
We welcome you!
