Patent Leather After Labor Day?

I was recently sitting in a meeting with a bunch of ladies and one of the ladies said that she had just purchased a new black patent leather handbag, but wasn't sure how to "rock it".  You know, how to coordinate it with other pieces in her wardrobe. All of the other ladies started chatting about the options she had with her new black patent bag.

Recently, I read somewhere that patent leather was a winter material.  Well, my mother and her friends would argue differently.  I am from the south (a true Atlantan) and patent leather was traditionally only worn between Easter and Labor Day.  All of the little girls would break out in their black patent leather shoes to coordinate with their new Easter dress.  The Easter church service would be filled with little patent leather shoes and ruffled ankle socks.

Traditions have changed and I love it.  No longer do we have to limit ourselves to when we can wear a certain item.  Now you see patent leather in all areas of design, from clothing to furniture and home accessories. Here are a few of my favorite patent leather pieces.

Now, this represents change. Far from our old traditions.
