Color Fluency by Posh Interiors, LLC

My eleven year old son has informed me that he is ready to redecorate his room. He said that he wanted to paint his bedroom bright red and lime green (to match his shoe strings).  Of course I raised my eyebrow's at his suggestion.  As a parent, there is a fine line between allowing your children to express their individuality and creating a Crayola box of your home (no offense against Crayola).

So, I am on a quest to find a few color combinations that will satisfy his need to have red (his favorite color) or lime green in his bedroom and keeping my sanity when I walk past his room. I am looking for color fluency that is easy on the eyes, but fun for a budding young teen.

I love the soft  senora gray in this palette.  I would definitely not put this green on his walls.

I am really feeling the color soot in this palette.  The neon green is fun!

I am sure my son would like this red, but it may be a bit bright for me.

I really like the deeper colored red and brown together. The horizon gray softens the palette.

Normally, when I work with clients, I start with "The Paint Deck." I use my paint deck as inspiration for fabric selections and color combinations in a room. Now, I would like your opinion.
Which palette is your favorite? I am going to share the results with my son.

Until next time,
XO

  1. I also like the dark red color pallet. But to make sure you adhere to your baby's request, high light accent pieces in lime green. Good luck and post pictures. :-)
